A Mobile phone is a part and parcel of your life and is increasingly becoming the most expensive thing that you have on yourself. If you are not careful, you can lose it easily in your commute or leave it behind somewhere. It can get stolen or it might stop working properly post the warranty period. Mobile phones are also prone to getting damaged when they fall down or get wet in the rain. It will help if we could insure them just like we insure our house and car.

Let us see various options of protecting mobile phones  –

* Please check the latest insurance details with the vendor thoroughly before buying an insurance cover.

You need to file an FIR with the nearest police station on loss of mobile phone. You need to submit the FIR and invoice to the relevant organization. Any insurance claim on mobiles has to be filed within 48 hours of the loss/damage.

You have to assess how important your phone is in your life and the cost of your phone. If all activities revolve around the phone like your business, social life etc. and you have an expensive phone(>Rs. 20000), do check on insurance plans. Most insurers do not cover loss of phone when it is misplaced or left behind somewhere and forgotten which is not good from a customer’s perspective as that is a common way of losing the phone.
